Advanced Dredging Solutions for the Construction of the New Rodde Lock

On commission from the Datteln Waterways Construction Office, the Johann Bunte-Nyblad consortium is carrying out the construction of the new Rodde lock on the Dortmund-Ems Canal.

An excavation pit with a depth of 14.70 m is being constructed. The excavation is being carried out under water. The last two meters of the excavation will be carried out using pumps, as 909 micropiles were previously installed to prevent buoyancy of the subsequent concrete base, which must not be damaged.

The Bell 200 with cutter head is used for the rough excavation. This is guided precisely between the micropile heads using a cable excavator. The Bell 150 with suction head is used to create the subgrade, also guided by a cable excavator to ensure an exact final depth between the micropiles.
